PRESS RELEASE – Start of Season 2021-2022

Dear friends, The Company “ATHLETIC EVENTS OE” “Sporting Events”, & the Organizing Authority of the WEST ATTICA BASKET LEAUGE Championship, following the clarifying instructions from the General Secretariat of Sports, in relation to the restrictive measures that apply from 13/09/2021 informs you about the following (summary):

Strong recommendation from the scientific community for vaccinating athletes, as, among other things, COVID-19 infection can have long-term consequences that affect athletes’ fitness levels and therefore their careers.

Athletic citizens:

A) 16 years old and older must show a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR or rapid test) at the facility once a week.

The PCR tests for races are valid for up to 72 hours, then in order to participate in a race the covid19 control procedure must be repeated.

Rapid tests for races are valid for up to 48 hours, then in order to participate in a race the covid19 control process must be repeated.

Those who have a vaccination certificate or a disease certificate (issued 30 days after the first positive test and valid for up to 180 days after the disease) are excluded from the screening test with covid19 (PCR, rapid, self test).

The use of locker rooms (by athletes and sportsmen) is allowed in organized sports facilities, in training and competitions with the following conditions:

• presence of one person per 15 sq.m. inside the locker rooms,

• use of 50% of the capacity of the showers,

• Strict observance of all Public Health rules.

For preschool children, parents are allowed to enter the locker rooms with the obligatory use of a mask.

The presence of spectators in individual and team sports matches, in open and closed sports facilities, is allowed, with the following conditions:

a) For open facilities with electronic ticket system: fullness up to 80% of the capacity and not more than 25,000 spectators.

b) For open facilities without electronic ticket system: fullness up to 60% of the capacity and not more than 10,000 spectators.

c) For closed facilities with electronic ticket system: fullness up to 80% of the capacity and not more than 8,000 spectators.

d) For closed facilities without electronic ticket system: fullness up to 60% of the capacity and not more than 3,000 spectators.

The above applies only to fully vaccinated spectators and up to 5% of the maximum number of spectators allowed for unvaccinated minors up to 15 years old.

Minors 12 years and older submit for a 72-hour PCR test or a 48-hour rapid test.

Minors up to 11 years old are allowed to enter with a negative self test that has been performed on the day of the race.

The control is done at the entrances of the sports facilities with the use of the digital identification platform for vaccination certificates, PCR and rapid tests and, where possible, a corresponding control is performed during the issuance of the electronic ticket.

The use of a mask is mandatory throughout the stay on the field.

Sports workers during the games, who are not fully vaccinated, submit a PCR test 72 hours or Rapid test 48 hours before the start of the games.

The clarifying guidelines for emergency public health measures against the risk of further spread of COVID-19 coronavirus are changed weekly.
